The British firm expects to have a bite to the industry leader – Apple – iTunes, offering each and every one in the UK Top 40 of 40 pence each. Shaking off its image as a traditional music shop in the high street, the new download service called hmvdigital officially appear in a catalog of more than 10 million songs.The tracks are compatible with mp3 players while a download manager automatically synchronizes with iTunes or Windows Media Player libraries.
Users also can re-download past purchases if lost – something iTunes does not allow that. This is not the first foray by HMV in the digital world.
