With so many headphones funky designs flooding the market right now is getting more and more difficult to choose what to buy. Instead of showing the latest snazzy set of cans, we are taking it back in time to display Koss PortaPros. These headphones are the latest in retro chic and are guaranteed to get some comments, but did not hear them through the beautiful symphony of sound floods your ears. For $ 50, are difficulties in finding another set than its rivals sound quality and unique design.
The first thing you notice about the PortaPros is that they look like something from the 1980’s. That’s because they are – these Koss headphones exact released in 1984 and became so popular that Koss nothing has changed for 23 years. These headphones keep the same design both internally and externally. The earcups are guaranteed to her head by a thin steel headband that fits with two sliders that tighten and loosen the tension. Once in place, the PortaPros are really very comfortable – they’re feather pillows and extra on top of the ear cushions prevent sliding handset. The comfort level is taken one step further with what Koss called his "comfort zone". This feature has three mechanical fittings that allow you to adjust the tension of the handset against his head. The downside is that there is no way to block the head in place and sliders to get caught in your hair as you take them and outside. This also becomes a problem when you want to relax the headphones around his neck – the banda immediately pressed and almost drowns you.
On the positive side, and sometimes also the PortaPros clip together relatively comfortable for storage. The overall design of the PortaPros is hit or miss. Not everyone is desired in the design, but who really love the way they see the headphones. The touches of pale blue and extended hardware evoke good memories of a time when Marty McFly, Lobot, Tron and ruled the world, and we are going to discuss with one dedicated next 23 years?
Hopes aside, the real reason why PortaPros remain classic (but underappreciated) is due to its fantastic sound quality. Just keep in mind that these departed before decades of study quality sound insulation headphones became available to the consumer market, so it definitely will not block most ambient noise. He also began to leak into the sound of a third brand in our iPod’s volume bar, but we are not surprised by his ear open design, just be sure not to crank up too high on its neighbours. However, apart from that, we have very few complaints.
In our test of sound, PortaPros were compared with another set of folding cans, Sennheiser PX100 miniheadphones. We have had good things to say about the PX100, but finally were dissatisfied with the lack of treble range. In contrast, the PortaPros simply blew us away with its range and its ability to maintain quality at high volume. We are pumped several songs in a wide variety of genres through the earphones and each produced a sound focused on the midrange with resolution detailed in surprisingly high and thick, head-shaking bass. Our MP3 "fatalistic Palmistry" Why? sounds much better with the PortaPros as well, clearly separating each instrument with equal balance, while maintaining the sound realism. According to Koss, the sound output is in charge of "neodymium iron boron rare earth magnet structures" that provide a 15-25000Hz range of frequencies, which certainly sounds like jargon seller at random, but the truth is that for sub — $ 50 range, are PortaPros Koss headphones to beat.
If everything that is not enough to convince snatch up a couple, we believe that Koss offers a "no questions asked" lifetime warranty on the PortaPros. If something happens to them during normal use, Koss will send you a new partner for the cost of shipping ($ 6.00). Now, that is music to our ears.
